How To Wear Hot Pink to Work

By Bridgetteraes @BridgetteRaes

The color pink evokes a lot of feelings, not all positive. People have wondered if wearing pink makes a woman come across as less assertive and if the color is too frivolous or girly for the office. Pink historically being seen as a feminine color, what is being implied here, that the only way a woman can be powerful at work is by wearing more masculine colors? What sort of patriarchial BS is that?

What I love about hot pink is it is a color that says, “I am a woman and you can’t ignore me.” In today’s post, I am sharing some tips on how to powerfully wear hot pink to work.

How To Wear Hot Pink to Work

You don’t have to be girly or even overly feminine to wear hot pink. I created different types of outfits for all different styles. In addition to these looks, shop for more workpieces at the end of this post.

Outfit #1

I love this sleek, modern look. Pants in hot pink can be a practical choice for women who prefer to wear the shade away from their face. I styled these wide-leg cropped pants from Rachel Comey simply with a short sleeve black sweater from 1901 and finished the outfit with a color blocked Kate Spade scarf and buff slingback heels from Tony Bianco.

Outfit #2

This outfit has more of a feminine, dare I say, girly look to it. I styled this J. Crew flounce dress with a navy shrug, navy block heel pumps from Marc Fisher, and a freshwater pearl necklace from Nina Coin.

Outfit #3

I love how many companies are reinventing the woman’s business suit. Companies like Argent and Boden are making styles in bright colors. I modernized the suit for work with this outfit by styling this suit from Banana Republic (link to jacket, link to pants) with a feminist graphic t-shirt, grey sneakers from Cole Haan and grey drop earrings from Kendra Scott.

Outfit #4

This is an outfit for the bolder, not afraid-of-color, type. I styled this skirt from Hobbs with a bold, colorblocked top from Boden, purple suede pumps from Linea Paolo and twisted knot stud earrings from Ann Taylor.

Outfit #5

This last hot pink look is a preppy workplace business casual outfit. I styled this blazer from 1901 with a pair of ankle length dark denim jeans from Jag jeans, a Liberty of London cotton print button front shirt from J. Crew, hot pink skinny belt from Talbots and navy backless loafers from Cole Haan.
