How to Wear Dashiki on Vacation

By Shegotherown @AddyGotHerOwn

It is already June my loves and we are all ready for the beach life.
Did I mention I booked my summer trips already? A wonderful trip with friends to Spetses in June staying at what is suppose to be an impeccable greek villa and the long awaited trip to Catalonia in July.
Talking about vacation and packing always ends up in what to wear on the beach and island evening outfits.
African prints and fashion seem to be here to stay thanks to the likes of Beyonce, Solange and other celebrities who have been rocking outfit that project the beautiful diverse motherland.
A dashiki is a loose colourful garment mostly worn by men in west Africa.
The name is from the Nigerian language Hausa and it means shirt  in plain English.
Dashiki as now been embraced by the female population of African both back in African and in the diaspora.
I will be packing my dashiki with me on my summer vacation because it is a versatile piece that can work as a beach cover-up and also perfect for an evening cocktail outfit.
Here I style it with a head scarf and sunglasses for a weekend at the beach to relax away from the Athenian chaos.
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend at the beach or elsewhere.
Have a great week and welcome to the second half of the year!
Ramadan Mubarak to all my Muslim sisters out there!
