How to Wear Culottes in the Fall

By Alexa Alfonso @lexlovescouture

Culottes are easier to wear in the summer. There's no denying it. That does not mean that the cropped pant does do have a place in the fall season. In fact, culottes could be more chic in the fall than during the summer if styled correctly.

Fall Culotte Rules:

  1. Remember proportions: Culottes have a wide bottom. It is best paired with a top that can be tucked or that is cropped. You want to accentuate your waist above all else, especially in the colder months when clothing tends to be on the bulkier side as it is.
Tip: Try a long sleeve bodysuit. Things will not get bunched up, which will give you a more flattering look.
  2. Wear a long-sleeved top: Whether it is turtle neck or a cropped sweater, this will instantly give your culottes a more fall look. Also, for logical reasons, wearing long sleeves are a good idea when the weather cools down. Refer to rule #1 when picking a top out.
  3. Try wearing a suede pointed pump or a pair of booties: This is another way to give those culottes a touch of fall. Not matter what shoe you choose, be sure to choose a pair that is slim. You do not want to wear an intense platform with culottes, it will do your ankles no justice.
