I’m sure you all had fun under the sun this summer and probably after all those island hopping and beach activities, you might have noticed your skin got darker and dry. Oh noes! What to do?
First of all, moisturize! The harsh sunlight and salty ocean may have stripped off your natural oil so bring that back in! Be it in your body wash or body lotion, opt for products with moisturizing ingredients such as Argan oil, and which contains Vitamins A, C & E. These three vitamins enhance your skin’s youthful appearance and help regenerate cells in your sun-damaged skin. I keep a bottle of my fave lotions in my office pedestal and in the car so I won’t have any excuse of forgetting to apply during the day. Currently, I’m loving Marilou Bio Body Milk with Argan Oil and Bath & Body Works Apricot Signature Vanillas Body Lotion.
Exfoliate the face to remove damaged and dry skin cells. I use Dr. Woods Daily Exfoliating Facial Wash which is gentle for daily use and suitable for all skin types. It has anti-oxidant formula with Black Soap & Shea Butter which help rejuvenate skin cells and clear blemishes. I’m on my 2nd or 3rd bottle already and I see myself still repurchasing after I ran out! Just a warning though, do not exfoliate until the skin has healed if you have sunburn. And when exfoliating, do not rub hard to avoid irritation and inflammation.
Drink lots of water to keep yourself hydrated! Try adding cucumber slices to cool and hydrate you from the inside. And eating watermelon is just as good as well! Remember, what you eat and drink show on the outside too so keep it healthy!
There you have it! These are my tips in bringing back your skin’s glory days after sun exposure. I hope you find them helpful! You can still follow these tips even if you didn’t go the beach, after all, we are constantly exposed to the sun even when we are in the city. Share your own tips as well in the comment section! :)
