You may recall that earlier this year the site Polyvore shut down unexpectedly. As a former user of the site to create the outfits for my blog, it was a huge inconvenience. I found an alternative solution for creating my blog outfits and figured everything was copacetic. Turns out it wasn't. What I neglected to realize was that in my early blogging days I used to embed the outfits I created on Polyvore directly onto my site, which meant that Polyvore was hosting the images, not my site. This also meant that when Polyvore went kaput so did these embedded images. I hadn't thought about this happening until I heard from a few loyal readers of my blog telling me that images had disappeared from some of my early posts.
While an inconvenience, I have decided to turn this into an opportunity and revisit some of these old posts and update them. This week I am giving some outfits ideas of what to do with the most basic of looks, the white t-shirt and a pair of jeans. I am using a Lands' End tee in these outfits because every time someone inquires about a good white t-shirt in my closed Facebook Group someone suggests it. I have never tried it myself, but, clearly, the style has a loyal following. To add some variety, I am also styling the white t-shirt with different jeans styles. Now on to the white t-shirt and jeans outfits.
How to Style a White T-Shirt and Jeans
Think of a white t-shirt and jeans as the base (or the chicken, as I like to call it) of an outfit. Often, something needs to be done to the outfit to look finished. What you choose to add to a white t-shirt and jeans outfit is the spice or the flavor, and that spice can vary.
In this first look, I "flavored" the white t-shirt and jeans casually using these ankle length jeans from Kut from the Kloth and a burgundy wool and cashmere cardigan from Halogen. I finished the look with a cute elephant pendant from Banana Republic, pine green tote from Rebecca Minkoff and my favorite slip on sneakers from Frye.

Next, I styled the white t-shirt and jeans for a business casual work environment. I selected boot cut jeans from Joe's and styled the outfit with a navy blazer from Veronica Beard. The look is finished with a pair of block heel pumps in leopard from Marc Fisher, a navy bag from Botkier, yellow wrap scarf from Sole Society and earrings from J. Crew.
Outfit #3
In this next outfit I am styling the white t-shirt with boyfriend jeans from AG to create another casual look. To style the white t-shirt in more of a bohemian way, I added this kimono topper from Nordstrom and finished the look with taupe booties from Jeffrey Campbell, olive circle bag from Welden and gold statement necklace from Chico's.
Outfit #4
If you prefer jeans with a straighter leg, I styled this next outfit with jeans from 7 For All Mankind. A white t-shirt and jeans outfit doesn't always need a topper piece. In this look I simply added a printed scarf from Rebecca Minkoff, blush flats from Cole Haan, plum bag from Marc Jacobs and silver earrings from Faris and bracelet from Robert Lee Morris.
Outfit #5
This last look was styled with skinny jeans from AG. I layered a kimono style cardigan from Eileen Fisher over the t-shirt, and used these boots from Vince to create one of my favorite color combinations, grey and cognac. I finished the outfit with a bag from Lucky Brand and pendant from Chan Luu.
