Choosing to be a Life Coach, healer, or other form of heart centered entrepreneur often feels like an inner calling. People who are attracted to this type of work are not always well versed in how to start and run a business. In this post, I will give you a basic idea of how to get started.
Foundation: Create a vision/mission statement for your business that inspires you. Have a written description of your ideal client and how you will serve them.
Make it Real: Choose a name and get a set of business cards as soon as possible. Do not worry about the design of this first set of cards as you can refine them more later. Start talking to people about what you offer and passing out the cards.
Logistics: Get your business license, decide if you will incorporate, and file for a fictitious business name, if needed. Set up a separate bank account for your business and decide if and how you will accept credit cards. Prepare accounting and secure client record systems.
Framework: Choose a method of delivery, possibly a coaching package or program. Decide what your fee will be and set up any details around your offering that need to be prepared.
Initial Marketing: Start with relationship marketing by going where your target market is and letting them get to know you. Make a commitment to talk to at least one person a day about your service and pass out business cards regularly. Consider, but don’t get stuck on, creating flyers, using social media, speaking before groups etc. to get your initial message out. At this phase, the focus is on getting your first clients booked. Eventually, you will want to market on a deeper level with possibly a website, blog, social media, email newsletter and more.
Consider Hiring a Business Coach: Working with a coach who has created a successful practice can save you time, money, and stress along your startup journey. Starting your practice may seem overwhelming, but with guidance can be accomplished quickly with ease and grace..
