We connected to social networking sites and share our views and experiences with our friends, after facebook many people prefer to use twitter to share their views, some times they use their twitter account to access some other website by accepting third party apps on their twitter account, this is quite common. But when we give access to more apps that can create vulnerabilities to our account while accessing, some apps may malicious and may affect problem which will also faced by our followers due to our mistake. Mostly cyber criminals create some apps and attract us to give them permission to know our personal details from out twitter account which they can use for their own purpose which makes trouble to us.
What Type of Applications You Should Remove :
Giving access to many application also spams our account and you should know about the application before giving access to your twitter account, better check about the app while giving access, you can give access to some major and trust worthy sites which you prefer. Remove the apps which mentioned below :
- Apps that is identified as malicious or not secure.
- Apps that are not been using for more than 6 months.
- Apps that are unknown.
- Apps that are no need in future.
Let me give you a example, you saw an advertisement that it will ask you to give access to your twitter account and enter the site to win iphone 5 and if do as it said it will send a tweet to your followers that you have been participating in the contest and which your followers may think that it is a trust worthy site and they will also access the app which is vulnerable and malicious and breaks your cyber security. This is the way more cyber crimes are going on in cyber world. So follow the above steps and remove apps.
How To Remove Third Party Apps :
- Login to your twitter account and go to setting bar and click to open drop down bar and click on settings as shown in the below figure.
- Once you go to settings page click on apps as shown in the figure.
- Now you can see list of third party apps that you have given access to your twitter account along with the details of date and time.Their you can see a option "Revoke access" click on that button to remove that app from your twitter account.
- By mistake if you removed the important app on that page you can add back by clicking the same button which has been changed to "Undo Revoke Access".
