Some of you may or may not know that we have come to UK, about 9 years ago. My husband accepted a job that he was offered. All excited, we arrived on a very rainy(!) September day.
I was nearly seven months pregnant with our first child and had lots of things to arrange as he started working two days later. Having found a flat, arranged everything and settled in to our new life here, I had one important thing to do.
I needed health care. I needed to see a doctor and I did not know where to start. My husband asked a few people at work, but they did know either as they have been registered for a long time.
I finally went to Boots and went asked the chemists. There was this lovely lady, who asked where I lived and advised me which surgery to go. She also advised me about the documents I needed to show them such as identity, proof of address etc.  The next day I went there and as you can imagine everyone was very eager to help this heavily pregnant lady!
I had to fill in some forms and had the chance to meet my midwife immediately! Now, having lived here for 9 years,I have learnt that things don't always work so fast so I must have been really lucky.
