Cats are such precious and cute pets, and everybody that owns one knows how cuddly this furry friend can get. People get cats for very different reasons, but we all agree that they are lovely animals. For whatever reason you got your cat, it is a responsibility of every cat owner to be responsible and take good care of the pet. The advantage that cats will always have over any other pet out is that they are very independent and therefore less maintenance is involved.
By less maintenance I mean that cats are not so demanding, they don't need to be taken for walks or to be trained. But like any other pet out there, cats also need an exceptional care, as much as cats can fit into a person's busy schedule, it is important to ensure that you do your part in providing a comfortable life for your pet. The first thing that you need to keep in mind is the environment in which your cat lives.
Your lifestyle is likely to influence how the cat behaves, caring for your cat involves giving it companionship, proper meals, a clean and safe environment, grooming the cat and veterinary checkups like vaccinations and worms treatment. I am sure that you will love seeing your cat happy even though they are naturally moody when they want to. The cuteness of a cat comes from its playfulness, and this is a scene that you will be able to witness every day if you take good care of the cat.
Today we are going to look at an essential part of a cat's life and comfort, Its house. Cats are always okay with lying anywhere comfy, but it would be better if you made it a place to sleep because if you do, it will adjust to having that one comfortable place to run to. A cat house does not need to cost you a lot unless you want a quick one, you can apply a do it yourself method and come up with a gorgeous house for your kitty.
It could be because you are running on a tight budget that you don't what to spend a penny buying one, or you enjoy arts so much or you have materials that you don't want to go to waste, either way, deciding to make the house yourself is fun and economical. You also get to come up with the design that you like best. You can apply a DIY and come up with a cat house from a simple box! It is not as complicated as you imagine because I am going to give you the guideline which will make you a result in a very short time, ten minutes only.
So what is the advantages of making a DIY cat house?
- You get to put the idle bunch of old boxes in your house to good use. Making the cat house is the most productive way of using the boxes instead of throwing them away or letting them wear out.
- You get to design how you want the house to look and the size, this also includes the colors that you want or If you want to write something on it.
Material and toolings
Please make sure that you got all the relevant equipment and tools that you will need as below
Step 1; Get rid of two flops
Using a box cutter, remove two lateral side flaps of the box very carefully not to ruin them as they will come in handy later on. If you do not have a box cutter, you can use the scissors, but the box cutter produces better results.
Step 2; Seal the bottom
Cover the bottom part of the box very carefully; it is advisable to use the painter's tape because unlike the other ordinary tapes; this one proves to be so easy to paint. That is, it will not leave distinctive lines after you have painted the whole box. When the bottom is tightly sealed, return the box to an upright position. The bottom needs to be sealed because it will act as a floor so the house could be easily carried without emptying the contents.
Step 3; Work on the two remaining flops
This is where the tape measure and ruler come in handy. You need to expertly cut the two remaining flaps into triangular shapes as they need to act as the roof holder. They have to be proportional and same to each other so first of all, ensure you identify the center of the flop before cutting in shape.
Step 4; Making the door and windows
Turn the box on its sides and choose the broader side, cut an entrance there in any door shape that you like as long as you make it wide enough for your cat. The best way to do this without making a mistake is to draw the door first.
Do not completely cut off the door, leave it in a manner that can be opened and closed. The same rules apply when designing the windows, but for the windows, if you want either the square or round designs, you have to get something of that shape so that you can use it to trace a shape on the box with a pencil. The utility knife will help you bring inner window panes; you ca n decide to have both window shapes in your house. It will be beautiful.
Step 5; The roof
This will be made from the extra box remaining by cutting off and tapping two of its walls together. The taped section of the roof is the center that will be bent over the already prepared house. To keep the two boxes together, tape where they come into contact with each other.
Step 6; Painting the house and decorating the roof.
Now that you are done with the hard part, you should make the house attractive by painting it with the colors that you wish. You should be very careful with the edges, so you need to have different sizes of brushes. You should also do some drawing on the walls. When it comes to the roof, decorating it will entirely depend on you and if you have an extra cardboard to make shingles. If yes, draw and cut the shingles and then glue them on the roof, if not, you can leave the roof like that.
Step 7; Make the house a home
Make this cute little house comfortable, by putting in a soft blanket. Your cat will naturally be thrilled! In less than ten minutes, you will be so proud of yourself!
