How to Look Chic in the Rain

By Bridgetteraes @BridgetteRaes

We had an absolutely gorgeous weekend here in New York.  The sun was shining, the temperature was perfect and it was great to be outdoors.  Today, however, it has been constant rain.  While the rain has been much needed, having to be out and about in the rain can really dampen your spirits…and your feet.   So today, inspired by this gloomy Monday, I wanted to put some looks together that are rain-proof as well as colorful and stylish enough to make you want to go outdoors, even if you don’t have to.

It’s hard to be a New Yorker without owning a pair of rain boots, like this pair.  With all the walking we do, there is no better way to get through a lake-style puddle that has developed on a street corner.  The Wellington-inspired rain boot certainly isn’t limited to trendy New Yorkers.  This trend is hot everywhere and the style is available at just about every price point!

While the classic rain boot may be acceptable for some, there are many out there who feel that the flat, rubber style just doesn’t cut it for style.  If you’re looking for more style while getting the same amount of rain protection, there are heeled rain boots out there, like this pair by Hunter, that combine function and fashion.

Okay, so you hate the rain boot altogether.  It’s not for everyone.  Last year I saw a woman wearing these Croc flats on a rainy day in lieu of rain boots.  They’re certainly a perfectly fine alternative.

Instead of the rain boot, you can always go for the rain sneaker flat, like this pair by Kustom which are made of recycled and post-consumer waste materials.

Of course, if the above don’t float your boat, you can always give these wacky styles a whirl.
