#1. Test Your Internet Speed with Speedtest.net
This is my favorite tool to test the speed of your internet connection. You can rely on the results from Speedtest.org without any doubt.
At first, you should visit speedtest.net. A map will be shown portraying your location. At the bottom left corner of the map, you can see your IP address as well as ISP (Internet Service Provider) name.
On top, a greenish button is available which says ‘BEGIN TEST.’ Click on it. You should wait a bit as the website analyzes your download and upload speed.
After all, you will be given a result like an image given below.
That’s all. Now you know how to test internet speed.
#2. AT&T Internet Speed Test
AT&T is another prominent internet speed checker tool. If you don’t like the interface of speedtest.net, you can try this option out. The UI of AT&T is clean, elegant and advertisement- free, unlike the former one.
Visit the home page of the speed checker. You will be asked to enter the AT&T email address. Don’t worry if you haven’t one. Entering an email address is just an optional thing.
All you need to do is click on the Start Test button. Wait for some time for the test to finish. At last, a result of upload and download speed will be displayed.
#3. Test Internet Speed with Speed.io
If you are not satisfied with the two of them given above, try this out. Speed.io is a similar service but a bit different in terms of the user interface.
A ‘Start Speedtest’ button is provided on the homepage. Clicking on it will lead you to the testing process. Speed.io tests download speed, upload speed, connections and ping response.
After the process is completed, you will be asked to click on a button to display the results. Do it and explore how fast your internet is.
From my experience, this website gave me a result slightly faster than the other two.

Tips to Increase Internet Speed
Haven’t you figured out your internet speed yet? Don’t bang your head on the wall if you see lower numbers. Read on to know some simple ways, using which it is possible to increase the speed of your connection.
#1. If you are going to purchase a new internet connection, this is what I have to say to you. Never ever trust advertisements. Going with the ads will end up in a miserable experience for you.
#2. Already have a fast connection? Then, changing your modem might help you. Move your old guy aside and try connecting with a modem with higher throughput.
#3. Sometimes, connection cables suck. There is no way to know whether the slowness is because of cables or not. Try a different ethernet cable!
#4. Viruses are another reason for the slow connection. Get an efficient antivirus program and scan right now.
#5. If you are using a broadband connection attached to a telephone, filters/ splitters are something that can’t be avoided. Check its efficiency by connecting to the web without it.
#6. Often, websites (like youtube, drive) stops supporting older browsers. To get the maximum support, you should upgrade your browsers and other software to the latest version.
#7. Some modems start decreasing the speed when it comes in contact with magnets. Analyze the speed after removing all speakers, phones and tablets from the place.
#8. Cache and IP (not for all connection) changes with each startup. So, turn off your modem for a few minutes. Then, turn it on again. The problem will be solved in some of the cases.
