How to Have the Most Unpopular Bathroom on the Block

By Jakemontgomery @LTDOnlineStores

Here’s what you can do to avoid having the Most Unpopular Bathroom on the Block. These are the most common areas where homeowners forget to pay attention to. Eliminate dirt, clutter, poor lighting, and boring designs to have your bathroom shoot to the top of the list! Our advice is simple and pain-free!

1. Dirt
A build-up of dirt can cause guests to steer clear of your home the next time they get an invite. Dirt in the bathroom comes in the form of spots on your flooring, handprints on the wall, uncleansed toilet bowls, dirt rings around the tub, spots on your mirror, and well….you get the point.

Maybe all of this dirt is discouraging you from dealing with your restroom once and for all. It can actually be much easier than you expect and yield breath-taking results! Here’s what you can do. Grab a scrubbing pad, multi-surface bleach cleaner, rubber gloves, toilet bowl cleaner, Windex, and a couple of sanitary wipes for those hard to reach areas.

Multi-purpose bleach will work wonders on white surfaces and have them shining like new! If you haven’t already discovered the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, you’re in for surprise! Just try it and you will be amazed at what it can do! Porcelain toilets just need some toilet bowl cleaner and a quick scrub!

Tip: Try using in-tank toilet bowl cleaners to maintain a fresh appearance. Be sure to avoid using tank cleaners that disintegrate in your toilet. See why by reading this Troubleshooting Guide on How to Repair Your Toilet!

2. Clutter
Lack of organization can make guests feel crammed, intrusive, and uninvited. Your guests are forced to maneuver around your bathroom obstacle course when you have cosmetics, hair straighteners, hairbrushes, and everything else you used to get ready sitting on your countertop. Prevent this by adding storage space, a larger bathroom vanity, cabinetry, a medicine cabinet, or storage bins!

If you’re on a tight budget, start by prioritizing your bathroom supplies! Keep the essentials and get rid of the rest! A good rule of thumb to remember is that if you haven’t used it in the past year, then it’s safe to say you won’t need it in the near future! If you don’t use it on a daily basis, try placing it in storage so that it won’t get in the way!

3. Poor Lighting
Poor lighting can not only put a dimmer on your bathroom experience, it is also dangerous! If adequate lighting is not provided, it can become difficult to service yourself in the restroom as you apply make-up, freshen up, and shave!

Try replacing old light bulbs that are going out with fluorescent light bulbs. You can also purchase a modern light fixture or add a stand-alone lamp in your restroom. If you don’t already have one, a recessed shower light may be a great way to increase visibility while you shower/bathe!

4. Lack of Decoration
Maybe you have managed to keep your bathroom clean, orderly, and well-lit. How could you possibly step it up a notch? Failing to decorate your restroom can lead to a depressing, bland, unattractive, and cookie-cutter feel to your bathroom! Aim to create a visually entertaining setting that will invite guests in!

You don’t have to be a designer to spruce up your bathroom! Here are some quick tips and ideas that you can try out. Notwallpaper is a unique way to add decorations to your wall. As the name infers, it is not wallpaper but rather a paint roller that leaves behind a pattern that will not peel off!

You can also incorporate pictures, flowers, updated shower curtains, modern faucets, and new bathroom rugs into your design. The possibilities are endless when it comes to interior decoration and your results are completely up to your imagination! Don’t be afraid to branch out and try something new! Many times, ideas that you thought would end in complete failure actually turn into a brilliant success!

Along with the kitchen, the bathroom is one of the main selling points and also a critical factor when having your home appraised. It’s important to pay attention to your bathroom and not just forget about it by leaving the restroom door shut! Targeting these common problems can also be good for your health!
