By Chantel @k3ona

Happy Saturday Gorgeous! Summer is still in full effect and most people can’t wait to leave work behind and go on vacation and visit some of the most exotic places with friends and family. However these days not everyone is able to take a vacation due to finances but just because your funds may be low doesn’t mean you still can’t enjoy your summer. Keep reading for some fun “staycation” ideas.

Visit your local museums

Art, natural or American history, botanical gardens, zoo, cars, sports, or whatever interest you is a great way to enjoy a nice summer day.

Go to the beach or pool

Spend a nice day at the beach, so grab your swimsuit and friends and family but please don’t forget your sunscreen. You want to have fun but also be safe. You can even bring some sports equipment like a volleyball to play with friends.

Be active outdoors

Get the bike out and go on a bike trail solo or you can bring a friend or two if you desire. Work on your tennis game at a major park or if your local high school allows access to the tennis courts. Take a hike. Walking is the best type of exercise. Find a park or a scenic route, pack a picnic lunch, water and go explore the world. Take an exercise class. Try yoga, Pilates, spinning, etc. or play some golf just for fun or take your kids to play miniature golf.

Go to a movie or show

You can have a nice evening at the movies with your significant other or go to the theater, or opera if you are feeling a little fancy.

Go shopping

Hit up your local mall and see what’s new in some of your favorite stores and you can even people watch while you are there.

Read a book

Go to your local coffee-house and get lost in a good summer read.

Host a potluck or BBQ

Have friends and family over to host a block party. Ask everyone to bring something and share.
