Lawn diseases: Identification & Treatment

Start by looking carefully at the problematic and stressed areas of your lawn. Here, we will discuss the problems that you can observe and suggestions for the adjustments:-

Snow Molds

The circular grey and dull-colored grass is the disease caused by the snowy season. This happens mostly in the regions where it snows heavily during the winter season or the fertilizers with an excessive quantity of nitrogen have been used for the lawn.

To adjust this problem you can use a leaf rake to lift the affected grass which will reduce the risk of the further spreading of the disease. You also have to keep the pH level of the soil between 6.5-6.7 to prevent the microdochium patches (snow molds) in your lawn.

Brown Patches

Monitor your lawn for the brown patches when temperature and humidity rise. The infected lawn will have circular patches of thin light brown grass. This brown patched condition can be caused if your lawn is wet for a long time due to the rainy season, humid weather, and excessive watering. This disease is most common in extreme warm months and extreme cold months of the year.

Therefore, providing your lawn with an accurate amount of water according to variable weather conditions is necessary. For proper water timing and quantity, you can use a tap timer that can be easily attached to the tap.
