How To Dress Comfortably For a Flight

By Dtwobrokegirls @dtwobrokegirls

Flying isn’t always enjoyable. You’re in a cramped seat for hours and hours on end…yikes. That’s why it is so important to dress comfortably. Being comfortable doesn’t mean you have to look like a slob, though! There are ways to be both comfortable and well dressed. To dress comfortably for a flight, keep these guidelines in mind.

Think About Your Destination

When you’re planning your travel outfit, the first thing you’ll need to do is consider your destination. What will the weather be like when you get there? Will it be hot and humid or rainy and cool? Thinking about the weather before you travel will help you decide the best type of fabrics to wear.

Choose Your Fabrics Carefully

Speaking of fabrics, choose them wisely! You always want to avoid stiff, scratchy, or uncomfortable materials. Always, always, avoid synthetic fabrics, as they can make you overheat. You may look great as you’re walking through the airport, but once you’re on the plane, you’ll immediately regret your decision. Your best bet is to choose loose, lightweight, and comfortable fabrics. For pants, pick something with a little bit of give. Jeggings are a great option for women. For men, choose slacks with a little stretch.

Dress In Layers

Every plane ride is different. Sometimes, you’re shivering in your seat and other times, you feel hot and uncomfortable. That’s why the best solution is to dress in layers. A great option is wearing a tank top or t-shirt with a sweater over top. If you’re too hot, you can always take off a layer! Remember to bring an extra lightweight jacket or blazer in case you find that the plane is chilly.

Don’t Wear Flashy Labels

Yes, you love your Michael Kors purse and that killer Armani suit jacket. Just because you love them, doesn’t mean you need to travel with them! Why? You don’t want them to get damaged or attract any unnecessary attention. What if someone accidentally spills coffee on you? Or thinks that you look like a good target? It’s better to dress simply when you travel…just in case.

Wear Slip On Shoes

Slip on shoes and flats may be super trendy right now, but they’re also practical. When you go through airport security, you’ll likely be asked to remove your shoes. Make the process easier by planning ahead for it. Not only will slip on shoes be super comfy when you’re on the flight, but it will also make going through security a breeze.

Skimp On the Metal

There’s nothing more annoying (and time consuming) than going through the metal detector. You’ve got to take off your belt and all your jewellery. It’s easy to get flustered when you’re holding up the line and there is a security person is glaring at you! The best solution is to avoid wearing metal that you don’t need to. It will likely feel bulky on the flight anyway, so put what you don’t need in your carry on.

Comfort is key when you travel. Make sure that you’re prepared for your next vacation by dressing comfortably for the flight. You’ll be cozy…and ready for anything!
