How to Clean the Washing Machine Drawer Naturally?

The drawer of the washing machine can quickly get dirty over time. Limescale, mould, etc. are all elements likely to proliferate in the event of improper use of the machine. Nevertheless, it is possible to overcome this inconvenience, by using some ecological and inexpensive tricks.

On the drawer of the washing machine, it is possible to see mold, scale and rust. Fortunately, it is possible to get rid of it easily and permanently.

There are different models of washing machine, each with its own drawer. Generally, the latter can be removed in just a few seconds. To achieve this, just follow these steps:

  • Pull the drawer towards you until it stops;
  • Grasp it with your hands and lift it up;
  • Apply light pressure until you hear a click;
  • Safely remove the drawer.

As you can see, it is not recommended to press too hard to avoid any risk of breakage.

How to clean the washing machine drawer?

To clean the washing machine drawer, you will need baking soda, citric acid, and washing powder.

  • To start, place the drawer in a bucket of boiling water;
  • Add two tablespoons of citric acid to it;
  • Pour boiling water into another bucket and add 2 tablespoons of citric acid and baking soda to it;
  • Once the chemical reaction has taken place, place the drawer in the second bucket;
  • Finally, leave on for two hours then rinse with clear water.

If you notice the presence of mushrooms, the white vinegar and baking soda duo will be most effective. To do this, simply pour fill a bucket with white vinegar and add two tablespoons of baking soda to it and leave the drawer of the washing machine in it for two hours, before scrubbing it with the using a brush or sponge and rinse with clear water. You can repeat the operation as much as possible, until there is no more visible mold.

Limestone is the primary cause of bad odors that the washing machine can give off. If you notice its presence on the drawer of your machine, you can get rid of it using an economical and ecological trick. For that, fill a bucket of water with 3 liters of boiling water then add 15 grams of citric acid. Then soak the drawer in the solution obtained before rinsing with clear water.

Furthermore, and if you notice any detergent residues in the drawer of the washing machine, pour in a tablespoon of citric acid and run a wash cycle at 75 degrees.

To clean the drawer of the washing machine, there is no need to use chemicals. Indeed, simple natural products, like baking soda, can do the trick.
