Usually, it is natural stone which is chosen for countertop. Stick to it and don’t get driven away by the plethora of choices to match your kitchen interior or current trend, because there is no appropriate option for this. However, not all natural stone will fit the requirement. This is due to the reason that natural stones are porous in nature and absorb liquid or stains very quickly, although this can be prevented by applying good sealer if you really like such natural stone.
Make sure the counter top you choose isn’t excessively sensitive to chemicals. Since you will be using varieties of ingredients while cooking and spilling one of them will be a common phenomena, your counter must be tough enough to prevent cross reactions.
Strength is of course another significant feature that your countertop must have. It should be able to bear weight of a heavy container. Strength will also make the counter last long. Also, ensure that it can bear extreme temperature or freeze thaw cycle. You will be using it sometimes to place ice –cream container or sometimes for hot containers.
