How to Be a Hot Mom, {and Still Take the Kids to Soccer Practice}.

By Momfashionlifestyle @Fashnlifestyle

Having turned 30 this year… {shhh. don’t tell anyone}, and considering the fact that I am now a “Mom”, I have found that I need to actually stop and think about my style choices, {to avoid looking like a “tween”}. Do I dress differently because I am a mom? Nope definitely not. I was told my style would change once I had a toddler running around, but that’s not the case, it’s that I am getting older and I needed to adapt.

{Me… adapting…. wahahahahaaa!!!!}

Do I still shop at my favorite stores? Yes definitely.  Forever 21, H&M, and Nordstrom are still very high on my shopping lists. However I just look for items that are more age appropriate. I realize I am not a dinosaur, I’m 30, and 30 is the new 20 right? Well at least in Southern California it is. Good thing I live here.

I have been asked quite a few times recently, “How do you dress comfortably, yet fashionably… but avoid looking like a Soccer Mom?”. So here goes.

Rule Number One. Get comfortable in your skin. While I definitely have my insecurities, since I have had my daughter, I have felt so much better about myself. I don’t know what it is… probably her unconditional love, but whatever it is, it has definitely helped me be more confident in my own skin as well as with my style choices.

I think one very common misconception for moms, is that your sense of style, as well as who you were prior to having a child, has to be left in the delivery room. This is not the case. You just have to find ways to “appear” polished with less time and more effort.

If your answer is, “I don’t have time.”

Rule Number Two. Make time.

You will feel less frumpy, I PROMISE.

One way to do that is to accessorize. Branch out. Do it. You won’t regret it.  Just wearing a chunky necklace or a beautifully printed scarf, does wonders for an otherwise boring outfit {see my scarf how to here}. {Forever 21 necklace}  {H&M Scarf, Kate Spade Sunglasses} Heck, stack a few bracelets if you feel like it. {Kate Spade Bangles, belt bracelet from Etsy}

Rule Number Three.  Always apply some sort of Makeup.

 I can have kid hand prints and crumbs on my pants, and a coffee stain on my shirt, but I alway have lipstick and foundation on. Makeup is great way to look and feel better on an otherwise crazy day.

On the days I have appointments, I usually set my alarm prior to my daughter waking up so I can do my full makeup regimen {see my five minute eye makeup how to here}.

But if that doesn’t work for you, carry a few things with you to the car and once the kids are settled, {and you are still in park}, put on a little BB Cream {see my post on it here} and lip gloss or a bright lipstick.  I always feel so much better with a little bit of makeup on, and I know you will too.

{See my Bright Lipstick How to here} And Last Rule {but not least!} Have fun!!! Take life a piece at a time…. and don’t be afraid to try new things!!! If you have an inkling that you’re in a fashion rut, break out of it! And fast! Go shopping for a few new pieces, pick key items that you are comfortable in. Ask a fashionable friend for their “honest” opinion, and don’t be afraid to get an honest answer. If it’s friend approved and if you feel good in it why not wear it???  If you have any fashion or makeup questions feel free to comment or email me at, momfashionlifestyle@me.com I may not have the answer to everything but I will certainly find it for you!
