Throughout everyday life, people struggle with acne. Nobody likes it because it can make skin look uneven and bumpy, ruining one's complexion. However, in my experience as a make up user, I can say with certainty that there is hope! That hope lies in using foundation to cover any facial mishaps that may occur. So, without further ado, here are the steps to choosing and applying the best foundation for acne prone skin.
Step 1:  Scrub your face to remove any excess oil that may be causing acneThe first step to making yourself look better using foundation is to remove any excess oil that caused the acne in the first place. A simple way to do this is to acquire a clean towel and draw a bath of warm water. Once the bath is drawn, dip the towel into the warm water and lay it against the affected areas. Simply wait for 1-3 minutes and the heat will draw out oil to the top of your skin. Once this time has passed, scrub using the towel and remove all acne causing oils.Step 2:  Rinse with an anti-acne soap After removing the oil that caused the acne, it is time to use an anti-acne soap such as Neutrogena in order to remove any oil that may have lingered after your initial scrub. Anti-acne soap is also good because it cleans the pores and helps prevent future breakouts. To apply, simply put on the face and wait 30 seconds before rinsing.
Step 3:  Isolate the areas with the most visible acneNow that you have completely cleared your face of any oil buildups, it is time to find the most affected areas. Take a look at the places that are most red or bumpy from the acne and start deciding where best to put on the foundation. Acne prone skin deserves extra attention than other skin because it is usually more sensitive than the skins of other people who are not affected by acne.
Step 4:  Select a foundation that best fits your complexionOnce you have decided which areas of your skin have been most affected by acne, it is time to find the best foundation for acne prone skin. I would personally suggest Clinique's water based foundation makeup because it is least likely to irritate those suffering from acne symptoms. However, what works for me may not work for you so try to find the most effective option for your complexion. Once you have found your dream foundation, it is time to put it on.

Step 5:  Apply with careMake sure that you have clean hands before you start the process in order to prevent blemishes from appearing due to oil or bacteria on your hands. After you have cleaned your hands it is now time to fully apply the foundation. Get a sponge and dab the foundation onto it in small increments as necessary. Then, slowly apply it to acne areas in order to cover up any spots or pimples that you find unsightly. After application, check yourself out! You did it and now look like you have never had acne.
