Wedding place cards with a handmade touch
Anything handmade takes time. That’s part of the charm. When it comes time to do the place cards for your reception, using plain place cards is an easy way to set the table but if you’re after something special with a handmade touch get your girlfriends together for an evening of crafting. You’ll need scissors, glue and some pretty papers to match your theme or even just pages from old books. Here are a few ideas to get you started.
Butterfly wedding place cards for a hint of elegance
To make these elegant butterflies simply draw a simple butterfly shape onto a scrap piece of paper to use as your template and then trace it onto the paper of your choice.
Have a lot of place cards to do? Double-up your paper and cut two or three at the same time. They can be cut out of any type of paper to suit your theme if you have one. Why not cut them out of sheets of music stained with tea or any pretty patterned paper?
Fold the butterfly along the middle and snip a V-shape out of the centre so it can rest, wings open, on the top of the card. Add a dab of glue to hold it in place.
Paper rosebuds for romance
Paper roses can be made out of just about any type of paper. Here I’ve used a page from an old book. Simply cut a circle and then snip into it like a spiral.
Gently roll the coil around the middle and glue the end into place. Glue a vintage button in the centre if you like. Attach it as is or with a small green paper.
Antique blooms that make a statement
To make the large flower, start by cutting out a number of tea-stained petals in varying sizes and simply glue them around the inner bud.
To start the inner bud, roll the petals around a pencil to give them shape and then attach more and more petals in varying shapes.
Cut out a leaf from green paper and write your guests’ names on them.
