This morning, when sitting down to check my online calendar and write, I pull out my keyboard-mouse sliding tray, and — BAM! – it falls smack onto the floor, complete with the piece of broken particle board (because nothing’s made of all wood anymore) attached to the metal rack. No hope for repair.
Now, isn’t that the finest timing — right before Christmas, my 15 year-old desk up and kaputs on me?
So I am blogging from my lap today. Did you know it’s impossible to get the correct alignment for fingers on a lap-seated keyboard?
Yet another thing I don’t want to spend a dime on. But, there’s hope for me yet — I think I’ll check out Freecycle.org groups for a quick replacement. My sis-in-law hipped me to this community-based recycling site a few years ago — a great one for recycling, donating, and finding a godsend item. If you have a perfectly good item, list it, and then feel good when someone blesses you for simply leaving it on your front porch for them to pick up. I’ve left something out before that I no longer needed, and I was glad to know it went to good use.
I’m often surprised at what great stuff I find in the listings sometimes — let’s just hope I get some good karma and this is one of them.
