How Much Do You Know?

By Lifestreasury
Hello Readers, today is looking really beautiful. We are only open to learn new things when we decide to say we do not know it all.

Has this ever happened to you  when you  go to a place and someone starts talking you just say I know what this person has to say and automatically you take your attention off what the person wants to tell you, but then I ask how much do you really know?.
I listened to Joyce Meyer talk on a topic like this and it got me thinking so I thought I should share. We assume to know much about a lot of things and in most cases these thoughts prevent us from learning new things.
Like a friend would tell me, he does not like having an argument with me because I really do not want to hear his point, all I have in my head is what I believe is the correct version. Alright! (Maybe this was true #coversface) I actually did not know how true this was, I noticed it one day I had a discussion about a country and someone who had a better insight was speaking about it, but because of the things I might have heard or seen somewhere I thought I knew it all and did not give room for the other person to speak and that same question was posed at me outside I gave the silly reply I had in my head and everyone got laughing, Arrrghh!! I felt so so stupid because if I had just shut my mouth to listen to the correction the other person had to give guess it would have saved me the embarrassment, but then guess I learnt the hard way.
Most times we feel we know the bible too well, that we can quote every chapter/verse without having to flip a page, but reciting it is different from knowing it, so when we get to church and the Preacher starts talking about the verse, we go oh no! I would not have come today if I knew this was the preaching, but then how much do you know, why don't you just listen?. You can never know it all. Everyone you meet and everyone you speak to has something new to tell you and you have something to learn from them, it might not even be their words, it might be their actions you need to learn from.
Did you know this? That feelings are not evil neither are they holy (It is sweet and sour). Emotions are sometimes helpful but sometimes hurtful. Wanting something would not let them go away but then on a second hand it would not let them stay either.Oh yeah, Maybe you knew these but I learnt them yesterday night and when I thought deep I saw the actual meaning in these words.
Sometimes we should not let our ability of "I know it all" control us because there is a lot to learn and there is a lot to be corrected, same way we should not let our feelings get a hold of us, we should not do things because we feel it is right but because we know it is right with God.
Do not feel you know you have the best of everything or you know the best of everything, what else does anyone have to offer. Such mindset can lead to conflict, misunderstanding and pride, just listen to the next person because you will love to be listened to.
Be open to wisdom and you will get a whole lot of it. Do not limit yourself to where you are because that which you know might just be the icing on the cake, make yourself open to learn a lot more because life on its own is an academy and you never stop learning.
Are we going to consciously pay attention to what the next person has to say today?
I am learning and would definitely love to learn from you. Drop your words in the comment box below.http://feeds.feedburner.com/LifesTreasury
