After having a baby, my typical "look" consists of no makeup and a messy bun. One of my goals at the beginning of the year was to find a quick and easy routine that would allow me to feel more "put together". I've realized that in just five minutes, you can enhance your natural beauty and feel a thousand times better! Even if I am just going to be in yoga pants and a tshirt around the house, taking that little time "for me" can do wonders.
Since we are on a very tight budget, I strive to find beauty products that have more than one function. I also wanted to find all of my items at a local drugstore, since expensive department stores are out of the question. I headed to my local Walgreens and was extremely happy with the large selection of beauty items they offered. I knew that the spring/summer beauty trends I wanted to focus on were a fresh face, bright eyes and an orange lip.
I was able to find five items to create my simple, five minute look!
This BB cream is awesome because it combines sunscreen, moisturizer, foundation/coverage, and concealer all in to one product! It is completely buildable, so you can layer it on to achieve the coverage you desire.
I applied a light layer over my entire face. Then I used it to apply a second layer to any problem areas and around my eyes. I applied a third layer just under my eyes and it worked great to cover my dark circles. The thing I love most about this BB cream is that it didn't cause my sensitive skin to break out and 8 hours after putting it on, my face was still shine free! It also is very light weight, like a moisturizer, instead of feeling heavy like a liquid foundation.
Next, I applied this cream gel eyeshadow in a light layer over my entire lid and up to my brow. I applied a second layer to my lid and added a little to the inner corner of my eyes. This really makes your eyes look open and bright!
Now here is the craziest beauty product I found.
This mascara is amazing!! It is the first time I have used a mascara that makes your eyes pop so much that there is no need for eyeliner. I was truly shocked at the difference I saw after putting it on one eye.
I curled my eyelashes for about 15 seconds and then applied 2-3 coats. I went from looking like I have no eyelashes to looking like I had "falsies" on.
If you only want to use one product and do one step in your beauty regimen, this would be it! This is the best mascara I have ever tried on my lashes.
The last step was creating an orange lip. The runways showed a very bright and intense orange, but I knew that would look ridiculous as I ran errands to the grocery store or hung out around the house. I wanted to create a softer version of this fun trend.
I had a hard time locating the new colors of the matte balm, but ended up finding them on a special display as an end cap in Walgreens.
I first ran a light layer of the matte balm over my lips and then added a coat of this inexpensive lipgloss. Together they created the exact look I was hoping for!
Just a soft hint of orange, but very natural as well. The great thing about the matte balm is that I can also use it to achieve the bright lips you see in the display. I would just use a thicker layer than I did here.
After I apply my makeup, I just twist my hair back and pin it with a bobby pin. My hair is natural wavy, so I just let it air dry.
I know that five minutes doesn't seem like it could make that much of a difference, but setting that small amount of time aside for yourself is something I highly recommend! I feel so much more put together, energized and ready to go when I spend that time getting ready for the day. This is such an easy look and I love that it enhances my natural beauty and doesn't require a lot of excess makeup. I'd love for you to share your quick beauty tips or other small things throughout your day that make a big difference in how you look and feel!
