Houses In Detroit Start At $1,000 In Auction

By Nottheworstnews @NotTheWorstNews

Last year we wrote about a reported 4,400 square foot home for sale in Detroit with an asking price of $35,000.

You demanded better value, and it looks like Detroit is delivering! Specifically, QMI Agency reports Detroit is auctioning off homes as large as 2,354 square feet, with bids starting at $1,000.

3 Questions That Arise From This Story

1. Does this mean that real-world Detroit is on a slippery slope to decline to the fictional Detroit portrayed in the original Robocop, where Bixby Snyder exclaimed “I’d buy that for a dollar!”

2. “When is the price of a house from Detroit going to cost less than a plane ticket out of Detroit?” – Question asked by everyone in Detroit wondering if that plane ticket option may soon evaporate into thin-tumbleweed-blowing air.

3. “Hey, for that price I could bought four houses on Indiana Avenue in Monopoly. Indiana borders Michigan, what are you trying to pull here?” We suggest you take that up with the auctioneer. Maybe the seller will accept your Indiana Avenue card and four plastic houses, which won’t seem like a great deal next time you play Monopoly and get stuck with Illinois and Kentucky Avenue, but can’t build anything on them since you don’t have the complete red set.
