House to Home: Even More Details

By Winyeemichelle

A post in which you can snoop inside my Hong Kong apartment - 87.5% loaded! Two things have been on my mind lately: why are there only 4 drinks on Hong Kong’s Starbucks Christmas menu? And when will the rest of my furniture finally arrive?
Well ladies and gentlemen, while I might have to get by with Christmas cookie lattes (every bit as festive, magical and stuff-of-childhood-dreams-esque as you’d imagine), my apartment is now 87.5% complete! I have furniture! As promised, I thought I’d share a highlights reel of my postage-stamp sized place nestled by the bay and mountains in the New Territories.

Cosy Comforts
My first thought when redecorating was to make sure the apartment felt cosy and homely. I guess it goes without saying but living thousands of miles away from home, on my own, means that I ‘need’ this place to feel as homely to me as possible. Aside from all of my trinkets that I’d flown in from England, I had a clean canvas to start with in terms of furniture and colours.
Furnishing
I invested in some mod-Scandi inspired furniture from PriceRite. If you’re also moving to Hong Kong for an extended period, I wholeheartedly recommend this company! Super affordable (more so than Ikea on occasion) and with plenty of styles, I ended up decking out my entire place with their furniture. And lemme tell you guys, my feelings toward my sofa and coffee table are akin to that of a first child, I’d imagine.

Treasures & Trinkets
Well it wouldn’t be a Daisybutter blog post without a stash of ridiculous trinkets from magpie-esque collecting aficionado, right? I’ve moved to the city of DREAMS for collecting up oddments and treasures and I like nothing more than assembling flatlays of my favorite things. From frames that were literally made for Instax photos to teeny dishes, Pokeballs to my treasured YSL candle, these accents are the parts that completely define this apartment as mine. I’m just missing a pineapple, cc: Hannah & the Dream Team.

The Great Outdoors
It’s no secret that – back home in England – I simply love taking a few moments to head out and enjoy fresh air and the lake in my hometown. I find being by large stretches of water really refreshing and relaxing, and just look at this beauty of a new view! Located just 12 minutes walk away from my front door, I often find myself having a little stroll here after work and it’ll be an amazing backdrop for blog photos soon!
