Hotel Gut Ising Chiemsee: A WOW Spa Suite

By Monkeys And Mountains Adventure @Laurel_Robbins

Hotel Gut Ising Chiemsee is a 4-star romantic manner with a history that dates back to 1220!

More on that later, but first, I have to share what is easily the nicest hotel room I have EVER stayed in.  I literally walked in and said WOW, WOW, WOW! It was that worthy! If you’re looking for romance, it doesn’t get any better than this! And considering how often I stay in nice hotels, that’s saying a lot!

The bed in our spa suite sat on a raised platform with a chandelier hanging over the bed:

Our spa suite featured not one, but two seating areas (one partially pictured above and the other below):

And a huge bathroom, with double sinks and a shower for two:

But the PIECE DE RESISTANCE? Or should I say the two piece de resistance?
Our own very private sauna!

AND, not only that, but also our own private jacuzzi:

It’s even more beautiful at night when it lights up and changes colors! It just doesn’t get more romantic than this!

Hotel Gut Ising Chiemsee is full of surprises everywhere you go. It consists of 8 different buildings, built in different styles, ranging from Toscanca to Salzburger to Bavarian, to name but a few and all of a variety of ages. Travel tip:  Check out the different style of rooms, suites and apartments here and request a room in the building of your choice.
One minute you’re opening a door that dates back to medieval times….

The next you’re lounging by the modern pool – take your pick of either indoor or outdoor – the Hotel Gut Ising Chiemsee has both naturally!

Besides the hotel, there are a variety of activities on the lake with sailing being especially popular.  Riding is also available and there was a polo tournament taking place at Hotel Gut Ising the weekend we were there.  There are also tennis courts and a 9 hole golf course, with two other golf courses only a short drive away.

Travel tip for families: The hotel also offers week long sailing or tennis camps for children so that parents can enjoy the spa or partake in one of their own activities.

Sightseeing and Other Activities: Also worth seeing is the Schloss Herrenchiemsee, built by the eccentric King Ludwig II who modeled the palace on Versaille. Interestingly, there’s also a connection to Gut Ising – the stones used to build the palace came from the Gut Ising location! I’ve also enjoyed e-biking, the climbing forest and hiking on previous trips to the Chiemsee. There’s definitely a lot of activities to choose from.
