Homemade Granola Cereals

By Expatcucina

I love granola cereals, I love them on yogurt and fresh berries, with a cup of cold almond milk, event sprinkled on soups for some extra crunchiness.

In China Granola, like any other cereal is VERE expensive. A box of 400 g can cost up to 90 RMB (13 euros). Homemaking your own granola, instead, is easy and SUPER cheap. All you need are a few ingredients, an oven and 30 min. Here is the recipe for a basic recipe, you can add chocolate chips, dry fruit, coconut or whatever else rocks your boat!

Ingredients:

  • 6 cups Rolled Oats
  • ¾ cups Wheat Germ
  • ½ cups Shredded Coconut
  • ¼ cups Flax Seeds
  • ¼ cups Raw Sunflower Kernels (seeds)
  • 1 cup Chopped nuts (almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts, anything you like and that's available)
  • 2 tsp Cinnamon
  • ½ cups Brown sugar
  • ⅓ cups Honey
  • ½ cups Coconut oil (you can also use canola)
  • 1-½ tsp Vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 180 C (350 F)

Mix oats

wheat germ

flax seeds

sunflower kernels

chopped nuts

coconut and cinnamon together in a large bowl

In a medium size bowl mix together the brown sugar, honey, oil, and vanilla.

Add to dry ingredients and mix well

Spread mixture on baking dishe or pan

Bake for 20 minutes, stirring every 5-7 minutes

Remove from oven and allow granola to cool . After the granola has cooled, using a pancake turner, gently slide the turner beneath the granola to break it up.
Store in a zip-style plastic bag or other container of your choice.

I love to eat my granola with homemade yogurt and berries mix
