Home to Home

Florida to Colorado.
We flew back home late last week.  I am delightfully sustained by coastal light, sand, sea.  Here, now, we swim again.  Just under different terrain.  Yesterday we were at the pool.  Sully and I were swimming side-by-side.  Mom, we're swimming  just like sea turtles!  Calm, broad strokes.
A tinge of panic has lived inside of me over the course of time as we've become quite settled in Colorado, even more so now that schools have been started and family business calls - afraid that we might not find our way back to the ocean.  That my boys might not know what it truly means to be part saltwater and sand and shell.  But that worry is no more.  They are beginning to understand the ocean, the lifestyle, and they love it as much as I do. I know now that someday, when the time is right, we will divide our time.  And that is enough for now.
Forward.
I'm back in my garden, tending.  We're back to porch things and neighbor things.  We spend our mornings cooling in the shade and our afternoons at the pool.  Sun-tea brews, lemonade flows.  The days are slow and with very little structure, just the way I like them.  I find myself looking up at a bird in flight and, although it's not a pelican's span over the sparkling sea, beauty and gratitude come flooding in.
