Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is a bleeding disorder that can lead to easy or excessive bruising and bleeding due to the weak immune system which destroys the platelets. The bleeding happens due to the lower levels of platelets. It can cause purple bruises, as well as tiny reddish-purple dots on the body that look like a rash.

Immune thrombocytopenia usually happens when immune system cells produce antibodies against platelets then mistakenly attacks and destroys platelets.   • Bloody urine or stools
  • Unusually heavy menstrual flow
