As ugly Christmas sweaters continue to be quite the rage, we have reached a point where it's actually more difficult to find stylish holiday sweaters than it is ugly ones. Of course, one could argue that all holiday sweaters are ugly ones, but I know there are plenty of women out there who actually think the right style can be quite festive and lovely during the season. In this post, I am going to showcase some stylish holiday sweaters and give you some ideas on how to wear them.
Holiday Sweaters That are Actually Stylish
Outfit #1
When selecting a holiday sweater, start with a chic sophisticated style. You want to decide on a sweater that reflects your taste and personality. You also want to think about what you are wearing with your holiday sweaters and make sure that you create complete and cohesive outfits. Remember, you want this sweater to harmonize with what you are wearing, not the other way around like when you wear an ugly one.
Using this pretty snowflake sweater from Lands' End, I styled the sweater with these burgundy pants from Theory and made this outfit look party appropriate with a pair of silver metallic pumps from Vince Camuto, Jenny Packham crystal drop earrings, a chunky crystal bracelet from Banana Republic and a deep teal foldover clutch from Nordstrom.

If you don't want to actually wear a holiday sweater but want to look festive, fair isle sweaters definitely say holiday season without going overboard. Nobody will think you're a Scrooge if you choose this type of a style instead of a super obvious theme sweater.
I styled this fair isle sweater from J. Crew with a chambray shirt underneath it and these boyfriend jeans from Madewell. To finish this casual holiday look I added these burgundy wedge booties from Lucky Brand and red earrings from Ted Baker. For outerwear, I styled this green pea coat with a pair of navy jeweled gloves, and navy beret and finished the look with a navy saddle bag from Rebecca Minkoff.

Growing up with a mother who was a school teacher, it wasn't uncommon for her to have several Christmas sweaters in her wardrobe that she would wear to school. They would come out and quickly get packed away again once the celebrating was over. Seeing that the holiday season is incredibly short, this always seemed like a waste of money. If you want to get more value from your holiday styles, try looking for sweaters that can be worn past the season.
For this dressier holiday outfit, I used this gold embellished sweater from Boden that doesn't scream Christmas but definitely has a holiday feel. For a night out, I styled the look with a black leather skirt from Reiss, a pair of black booties from Cole Haan and accessorized with a crystal bracelet and tassel earrings from Ann Taylor and an ombré glitter clutch from Sole Society.
