Holiday Makeup Choices

By Samantha Curtis @hooahandhiccups

Happy Saturday friends! Hard to believe the holidays are right around the corners, huh? Feels like this year flew by! But to get you into the holiday spirit when it comes to beauty, I have the gorgeous Adaleta from Adaatude sharing her favorite holiday makeup choices. I “met” Adaleta on Facebook and I’m pretty sure we would be BFF in real life. She also has a fabulous YouTube channel so if you want to check out some of her videos, here it is! But I’ll let her do the rest of the talking…enjoy

Makeup trends change as each season comes and goes. Now that we are in the chillier, holiday inspired months of the year, I thought it was time to share some of my favorite makeup bits so you can create your own holiday look!

Being moisturized is step one so make sure to find your favorite moisturizer. After applying, you want to ensure you have a nice base before applying any makeup. I have been obsessing over the Hourglass Veil primer and how beautifully it blends into the skin. This is one product that is 100% worth the price and I will be repurchasing as I run out of mine. During the colder months, I like to keep everything matte and reduce the dewiness from the spring and summer months. I’ve loved the L’Oreal Infallibe Pro-Matte foundation for a long time, and it’s my holy grail foundation. To me, this is the perfect foundation and alongside the Veil primer, I don’t need to worry about my face looking cakey, dry, greasy, etc. throughout the day and that, ladies and gentlemen is a beautiful thing.

Since we primed our face, we also want to pay special attention to prime the lids. This Too Faced ‘Shadow Insurance’ is one incredible eye primer for my girls out there with some oily eyelids! There’s just something so beautiful about gold eyes with a bold lip (we’ll get to that later) but gold really brings out most eye colors and makes them pop. It’s also the perfect shade for this time of year but if you’re not so keen on gold or brown, there’s also some palettes that are perfect. Some of my favorite gold and brown shades include Laura Mercier’s ‘Copper’ Caviar Eye Stick, By Terry Ombre Blackstar in ‘Misty Rock’, Giorgio Armani ‘11’ Eye Tint and MAC’s ‘Tan’ pigment. I’ve featured my custom selected Buxom eyeshadow palette with a few neutrals, but also a beautiful plum shade along with a mint green shade. These shadows have incredible pigmentation. This Elf Prism Eyeshadow palette costs close to a penny, and has some of the most beautiful pigmented shades I’ve ever seen and used. They’re all shimmery, and not as buttery as the Buxom shades but they’re such a fantastic value for the price!

Next up, I dab the smallest drops of the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer and then add a little bit of the lightest powder from the Elf Illuminating Palette to set the under eye area. This makes such a big difference and helps to illuminate the entire face. I also like to use the bronzer in the Elf palette to contour the sides of my face slightly and add some bronzed glow into my life. A little dab of the ‘Naked Rose’ blush from Illamasqua and I’m feeling good. It adds that healthy red to the cheeks. To finish off the face makeup, I take my all time favorite highlighter from Becca Cosmetics ‘Champagne Pop’ and get that real glow going on! Without the highlight, your holiday look is not complete. I repeat it is not complete so get that highlight on fleek!

Now to the most fun part, we have the lip options. I’ve chosen three that I love for this time of year. The Revlon Matte Balm in ‘Passionate’ is a beautiful deep plum that’s not too vampy but also not too bright. The L’Oreal Le Matte lip color in ‘Made for Matte’ stays on the lips for hours. This red shade is just the perfect one for your holiday parties because it’ll survive the eating and drinking and possible a few kisses under the mistletoe. Because I love most things Charlotte Tilbury, I had to include my favorite shade from the matte range ‘Lost Cherry’ because it’s a mix of red and pink. It’s hard to tell if it’s just a red or a bright pink and I love the in between.

To get myself out the door, I use a few drops of the Viktor and Rolf Flowerbomb perfume and rub my wrists together. I then take some of my eos hand cream on the go to make sure my hands are nice and moisturized.

That’s it, you’re ready for the holidays!

LOVE these ideas! Make sure you go say hi and stay up-to-date with her on Instagram! Have a great weekend
