Take a trip down to New Albany for a visit to the Culbertson Mansion State Historic Site. Built in 1867 in Second-Empire style for William Culbertson, renowned philanthropist and one of the wealthiest men in the state, Culbertson Mansion is a must see for decorative painters and art aficionados. 
In the fall season the Culbertson Mansion host it's annual haunted house in the Carriage House. The carriage house once sheltered the family’s horse, buggy and the male servants. Years passed, the property was auctioned off, and soon numerous rumors and dark legends began concerning the Carriage House. From tragic fires to spiritual activity and even demonic possessions - Does a unsettled spirit linger in the shadows? As you travel onward along the Ohio River Scenic Byway you'll discover the Lanier Mansion State Historic Site was built in 1844 in the Greek Revival style for financier James Franklin Doughty Lanier, Lanier Mansion is known as Madison's crown jewel.
An example of life for the rich and famous in the 1800's includes the Hillforest Mansion State Historic Site, a National Historic Landmark that sits on a hillside overlooking the Ohio River in Aurora. This beautiful town captures the imagination as you relax on a porch over looking the river and watch the boat float by.
