Highcliffe Castle Winter Wedding Photographer

By Linusm

It’s a whole different ball game working at a familiar venue in late December.  Three days before Christmas we were capturing Claire & Nathan’s day as their Highcliffe Castle winter wedding photographer.

Their mid afternoon ceremony was decked out with candles and baubles, Holly and Ivy, snow machines and reindeers!  A great deal of effort that had gone into their day to make it spectacular.

Bridal preparations commenced at the nearby Christchurch Harbour Hotel, a beautiful wedding location in itself.  Claire’s family and bridesmaid’s were in attendance, assisting where needed, making final rehearsals to wedding ceremony readings.

Their ceremony was touching, with Nathan’s son and daughter having central roles as ring bearer and bridesmaid / reader.  Leafless trees, adorned with fairy lights and candles framed the ceremony area.  The winter scene was set – adding that feeling of festive coziness.

Post ceremony, the bride and groom left the ceremony room to be greeted by a shower of snow.  All generated by a snow machine specially installed upon the entrance roof.  Quite a spectacle for all to see.

Claire and Nathan’s day was quite a hive of activity for us to capture.  Unlike other weddings where daylight is in abundance, this one’s timing meant things had to flow quickly.  Post ceremony, the wish to get a few select portraits done, meant we weren’t hanging around, extending the natural banter and congratulations post ceremony.

A brisk walk over to the nearby coastline for some requested shots, then back on inside to the lavishly set wedding breakfast reception.

Unique Christmas baubles, with personal hand written holly tags for the guests to collect and take to their dining place – a great festive touch!

Their first dance had been a surprise to many, (Nathan historically professing the fact that he has too left feet).  Choreographed and planned to perfection during the months leading up to the big day.  Claire’s dance teacher background, obviously winning through within this epic finale!
