As teenagers, Kristin Dane and her two best friends took a vow to make the world a better place. Twenty years later, she’s fulfilling that pledge through her fair trade shop that features products from around the world. All is well until, one by one, people connected to the shop begin dying.
Detective Luke Carter, new to the St. Louis PD, wants to know why. Before he can answer that question, however, the FBI weighs in and Kristin suddenly finds herself in the middle of international intrigue–and in the sights of the ruthless mastermind behind an ingenious and deadly, scheme. Can this cold-blooded killer be stopped before more people die . . . including Kristin?
Three-time RITA Award-winner and “queen of inspirational romantic suspense” (Library Journal) Irene Hannon doesn’t disappoint in this edge-of-your-seat thriller that will have readers up late as they rush toward the explosive conclusion.
I was invited to join the Blog Tour Team for Revell Books, a division of Baker Publishing Group for today’s post about Hidden Peril by Irene Hannon. While I hadn’t heard of this author previously, she’s clearly been producing amazing books for some time now so I need to catch up on this author!
Hidden Peril is Kristin Dane’s story. Kristin is the second member of the Treehouse Gang introduced in Dangerous Illusions. Kristin, Colin and Rick have been best friends since they met as 12 year old children. Colin and Rick sat with Kristin at lunch after noticing that she always sat alone and they have been friends since, each having their own reasons for needing the friendship to continue.
In the beginning of the book Luke and Kristin meet at the wedding of Trish and Colin, who I understand were the main characters of the first book in this series. The interconnection between Rick, Colin, and Kristin in this story is wonderful. I appreciated that Kristin is a strong, independent young woman who cared about other people.
In Hidden Peril, the action is poured out over several months, which makes the development of the romance feel very natural. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that there was a bit more romance than I expected in this book too.
This Christian romance/suspense novel provides a fast paced action packed thriller. At times, I actually found myself holding my breath hoping that the characters would be all right. The characters were believable and they seemed very realistic in the way that they seemed to have so much “life” to juggle around in their lives.
This author has officially been added to my “must read” list, and I’ll be watching for the third book in this series after I go back and read the first book!
