Hidden Calories

Losing weight is a battle for many people. People try many different diets to reach their goal. Many people will never meet their destination. If they do make their goal they have a hard time maintaining it. Weight loss has been a battle for Americans for years.

Forget about the fad diets that pop up every year. They are just trying to make money. Don’t get caught up with, “this food will have you lose weight if you eat it”. Bottom line is, if you eat fewer calories than your body needs for the day, you will lose weight. It is that simple. Eating high nutrient dense foods will keep you healthier and have your body performing at its best. Food is fuel. Eat the right foods, and don’t eat more than your body needs for the day and you will lose weight.

Many people will start counting calories and find that they are not losing the weight that they are shooting for. They will add up all the calories from their meals. Very few people will include condiments when they are counting their calories. Condiments have calories. Add those extra calories. At the end of the day these calories add up. To put it in perspective. A condiment that only has 10 calories will have you gain one pound at the end of one year if eaten every day. If you have creamier or put sugar in your coffee, you have to add those calories. Between meals if you have a couple of crackers, you need to include those calories as well. By the end of the day, you might be eating hundreds of calories more than what you are aware of.

Counting calories is a helpful tool in losing weight if done accurately. Keep in mind that you need to consume fewer calories than your body needs for the day to lose weight. Use counting calories as a tool. If after a couple of weeks you are not losing weight, you have to adjust your calories or be more active.
