Hidden Barcelona: A Photojourney

By Monkeys And Mountains Adventure @Laurel_Robbins

I recently visited Barcelona for the third time in seven months, I went from Crushing on Barcelona, to a full-blown love affair.  I’ve done the touristy stuff like visiting Gaudi institutions Park Güell and the Casa Batlló but I still feel like there’s so much more to explore.

This is where my three-hour Hidden Barcelona tour from Urban Adventures comes in.  Despite my previous visits to Barcelona I enjoyed seeing another side to Barcelona and learning about it from a local.

It also enhanced my living like a local experience that I was getting via HouseTrip.  HouseTrip is a revolutionary holiday booking site where you live in local accommodation alongside locals, not tourists.  They have an incredible 2400 holiday rentals in Barcelona alone!  Staying in a HouseTrip rental also makes it easy to Eat Like a Local in Barcelona as I did.  The cuisine is always one of the highlights when I visit Barcelona.

Exploring Hidden Barcelona means discovering the city’s Roman ruins:

I don’t want to give all of Urban Adventure’s secrets, but these ones are at the Barcelona City History Museum, where you can find out more about Barcelona’s Roman history.

Discovering Hidden Barcelona also means exploring medieval passageways:

And not only discovering Gothic churches, but knowing that you can avoid the €6 admission fee by going after 5:00 pm:
And of course, discovering Barcelona’s architecture, beyond Gaudi.  As much as I’m a HUGE fan, Barcelona offers an array of interesting architecture outside of Gaudi:

But perhaps my favorite place in Hidden Barcelona?:
The patio of my holiday rental from HouseTrip…where I relaxed with a glass of Catalan wine – all as part of my living as a local research of course!

The Hidden Barcelona tour offered by Urban Adventures is 3 hours long and costs €26.  Advanced bookings are required.
