Heart at Toronto’s Sony Centre for the Performing Arts

Heart rolled into Toronto on a sleepy Sunday night and showed us all what rock and roll looks like.

Ann and Nancy Wilson have been at the rock and roll game an amazing 42 years. What? How is that possible? Playing together since 1974, the Wilson sisters are the original girl power. From their first album release, Dreamboat Annie they showed us girls can kick ass on guitar and sing like angels.Heart’s origin story has a big Canadian connection. Their first album was recorded in a Vancouver recording studio, the album cover was designed by a Canadian artist and their first big gig was in Montreal opening for Rod Stewart. So how did the talented Americans end up in Canada? Following love, we have Ann to thank for the Canadian association.

Tonight’s performance at The Sony Centre was everything you could imagine and more. Playing to a full house, the ladies have an amazing catalog to choose from and I think the hard part was deciding what not to play. I can’t express how happy this performance made me. Super talented ladies who had the audience eating out of their hands, it’s no wonder these Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees are included on so many bands lists of “influenced by”. We could all learn a thing or two from Ann and Nancy. Heart was joined tonight by The Mandevilles and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.

Rumour has it Heart will be releasing a new album this year and I can’t wait to hear what’s next.
