Marika Hackman – Drown SoundCloud

Our affection for all things Marika Hackman has never been a secret. Ever since we heard her debut mini-album, That Iron Taste, it was clear that she would be a favorite with staying power, and that has remained true throughout two subsequent EP releases, Sugar Blind and Deaf Heat, the latter released only six months ago. Her murky species of folk forges a gorgeous, earthy atmosphere that chills and bewitches us to our core, which is why it more than made our day to see she released a brand new track this morning taken from her forthcoming full-length debut, We Slept At Last. “Drown” alternates between fog and clarity, a sinister passion as its undercurrent. “So I’ll drown in your mind/I will I know I will/And suffocate in your smoke/Die stuffing my lungs with their fill.” We are enamored, and we can’t wait to hear the rest of We Slept At Last. Listen to Marika Hackman’s “Drown” above.
