Of course, there are lots of options for cold beverages, eating takes a back seat. So here’s a healthy and nutritious snack recipe that’s perfect for summer – our yogurt bark recipe for kids, packed with calcium-rich yogurt and fresh fruit!
Healthy Frozen Yogurt Bark for Kids
Ingredients:
- 2 cups hung curd (hang 2 1/2 cup curd in a muslin cloth for 15 minutes)
- 3-4 strawberries, washed hulled and sliced
- 1 kiwi fruit, washed, peeled and sliced
- 4-5 black grapes (seedless), cut into half lengthwise
- 2 tablespoon honey
Method:
1. In a mixing bowl take hung curd and add honey to it.
4. Then, whisk until honey blends well with the hung curd.
3. Now line a tray with parchment paper. Then spoon out the honey flavored hung curd over it and spread evenly using the back of a spatula.
4. To finish, top it with sliced fruits and lightly press the fruits so they get embedded in the yogurt layer. Freeze the tray for 3-4 hours or overnight.
5. Remove the tray. Allow it to stand at room temperature for 2-3 minutes.
6. Tap the tray and loosen the sides using a knife. Remove the yogurt bark, break it into uneven pieces and serve!
My experience is that freezing the yogurt bark overnight has better results. Please ensure that this yogurt bark is consumed within 20 minutes after taking it out of the freezer to prevent melting. Store leftovers in the freezer itself. Homemade hung curd flavored with honey makes a great substitute for cream and sugar. The fruits don’t just add nutrition and taste, they also make this a very attractive snack! Perfect for the whole family to enjoy during the season of colors, Holi!
