Health & Confidence Back: Michelaine’s Mini Bypass

By Beliteweight @BeLiteWeight

BeLiteWeight recently heard from a very special patient of ours Michelaine who recently found success with the Mini Bypass. 10 months after the surgery most symptoms of her diabetes are gone and she is wearing outfits she wouldn't have dreamed of. In her recent two letters she details her experience with the medical care with BeLiteWeight in Mexico and has photos of the stages of her journey. It is quite impressive!

I finally decided to share my journey to weight loss. After being a tiny 112lbs after two children and still wearing bikinis somewhere after my third child and his medical challenges for 22 yrs now, I found myself not taking care of myself but still feeling like I was beautiful. Everyone told me how beautiful I was although I was steadily gaining weight. I went from 134lbs three years after my third child was born and feeling great because I had worked hard to get to that weight, fast forward 2018 to 209lbs. My heaviest weight documented, Type II diabetes, heart issues, knees and hips pain, couldn't walk or climb stairs without being out of breath.

During the same time as fighting for my son's life I fought for my own through cancer multiple times and went through the hardest divorce of my life. I didn't know who I was, I didn't like myself and always had on a happy face and was there for everyone else. On day while sitting Indian style it was almost like I could feel my skin stretching. I know that sounds crazy but I know I could! When the scales showed 209 I was done! I wasn't going to let myself become a person that couldn't lift their legs, sit in a booth etc... I wanted to be able to kayack, white water raft and all the things I once enjoyed and most importantly be here for my children and the love of my life. I made the decision to seek help. This is when I came across Be-Lite.

I was full of questions as I'm very OCD and obsessed with having to know... The Be-Lite staff was very patient with me. They explained all my options as well as the other thousand of questions. It took me about six months to make my decision to have the Metabolic Mini-bypass. Then came the task of convincing my boyfriend it was okay to go to Mexico and let them preform a surgical procedure on me.

He did his own research, as he always does, tried to convince me I was beautiful and didn't need surgery. Due to the way my body held weight I never really looked as heavy as I was. Once I told a few my weight they were shocked. Many of my friends that looked heavier actually weighed less than I. He finally agreed.

I will say that he and I were completely impressed with Dr Rod and staff as well as Hospital Angeles' . We had a better experience in Mexico than we have at most American hospitals and not once did we have to ask for anything medical wise and wait on someone to assist us. I did throw a latex sensitivity while there which they were quickly on top of it even managing my pain without asking!

Upon returning home I did have some unusual complications to which the Be-Lite staff and Dr Rod were right there for me. My stomach opening had cinched down to less than 5mm so I wasn't able to swallow anything even water at times. I had three procedures to stretch the opening. Dr Rod kept in touch with me and even offered to bring me back to Mexico at their cost if needed. I couldn't have asked for better care! He kept up with my records from the doctor here. My doctor here stated after the first procedure that everything that was done in Mexico looked fantastic! It was beautifully done. This was very comforting as once I started having the set back you can't help but think did you do the right thing.
I'm happy to say that 10 months out tomorrow, I'm down 80lbs and 4-6 pant sizes. My shoes are even either to big now or fitting better. My diabetes is almost none existence and I can walk circles around walk I could! My heart is great. And my doctor reports that my numbers are fabulous! I'm still about 10lbs from where I would love to be but and very happy with where I am.

I can't thank Dr Rod, Jamie and all the other staff with Be-Lite and Dr Rod's team.

PS. Vulnerable Moment because I've never posted pics. Jamie and the team have often asked.... These opened not only my eyes but the eyes of my boyfriend when I started comparing before and after with him....
I hope my story helps someone whom may be undecided in their journey.

(Follow Up Letter)

my boo said I almost looked to good to go out in this outfit. 10 months ago I would not have even attempted shorts in fact I hadn't felt comfortable in shorts in quiet some time much less this type.

Again, thank you so much for giving me my health and confidence back!

Warm Regards,
Michelaine
