Have You Ever Noticed the Mud Castles Or Sheeting on Plants in AZ?

Grass eating termites

Typically termites only eat dead wood, so when you notice some mud on a cactus or tree they are probably just eating the outer dead wood. Cactus, grass and trees all have cellulose and that is what the little termites are after. They have that protozoa that helps to digest and breakdown wood. If they didn’t do their job the forest would be full of fallen trees, maybe.
