The exact definition of Manga is quite controversial, but outside of Japan this term usually means a comic or cartoon from Japan. Traditionally, in Japan the word is being used to refer any of the comic or cartoon without being considering where the person drew it or where he or she lives. Those who generally read English Manga online may know the real meaning of the Manga. Some of the experts have a dispute regarding the categorization of the works that are based on specific characteristics that are commonly found in the drawings for this reason.
Generally, the Manga is published in comic books are almost 150-200 pages long while those published in magazines does not cover more than 40 pages. The other graphic novels, which are different from regular comic books depicts the complete story right from the beginning, through the middle and till the end. These graphic novels could be several hundreds of pages long. These comics are generally being published in continuation with the intention of keeping the reader interested and thus coming back for the next piece of the story. And in order to be successful in this, the comics are being published serially with certain time gaps.
Other than the length, this comic- Manga generally keeps the traditional flow of the Japanese language. This briefly state that reading the comic from top to bottom and from right to left pattern. Each artist has their own style and generally the drawings are done in pen and ink and are usually black and white in color having a great emphasis on clean lines. Other than some of the highly realistic series, majority of the characters have very big almond-shaped eyes as well as their other body parts mostly are out of proportion that too in a humorous way. The hairs could be dramatically long and more primarily on main characters or heroes and heroines. If the artist opts for a shorter style, then it may consist of a spiky appearance.
In majority of serious stories, the characters reveal out their emotions quite earlier than the regular ones. Along with the manipulation of the facial expressions of the characters, majority of the artists generally includes special devices in order to express the feelings in a more pronounced way. The style of these Manga characters is sometimes purposely changed in order to highlight what the character wants or is generally going through. As for an instance, if the hero appears tall and muscled but he need to be presented as it is an infant or a child, then he must be throwing tantrum or may be probably doesn’t want to do something. This is how, alteration of the characters are done which depends a lot on connotations that the artists wants to get across.
Thus, this is how a new style of cartoon has been originated in Japan that truly entertains a wide range of audiences. Different characters have their own characteristic and feature which is the uniqueness of this comic or cartoon.
