Haruka Misawa Flowers

By Leslielazard @leslielazard

Who would have thought that design inspiration could come from something as mundane as pencil shavings? Japanese designer Haruka Misawa was inspired to create the floral designs (from none other than pencil shavings), after noticing that the spirals from her pencil sharpener often curled into shapes that resembled flowers. Misawa prints paper with various shades of color gradation, winds them up tightly to create a pencil like shape, then shaves them across a pencil sharpener to bring the flower blossoms to life. The results are one of a kind floral designs – each having its own unique shape and color combination.
