Harper lee, a literary legend on the strength of one novel, her masterpiece: “To Kill a Mockingbird,” is emerging from her reclusive life as her second novel is being published today after a literary hibernation of six decades.
Titled “Go Set a Watchman,” it was written in the mid-fifties during the height of the civil rights movement.
It was actually her first novel, but it was rejected, prompting her to write a second, “To Kill a Mockingbird,” a classic that won the Pulitzer Prize, became a major film, sold more than 40 million copies, continues to sell one million annually and has been translated into 40 languages.
