International Women’s Day is a worldwide event that celebrates women’s achievements – from the political to the social – while calling for gender equality.
It has been observed since the early 1900s and is now recognized each year on March 8. Is is not affiliated with any one group, but brings together governments, women’s organizations, corporations and charities.
How do you celebrate international woman’s day?
I am celebrating with family…and wishing I could spend it with my mother. She’s the greatest woman I know!! And as far as International Woman’s Day….she should be their poster child …I won’t go into her whole heartbreaking story but know this:
She is a wonderful inspiration to everyone she knows, her persistence, tenacity and unwavering faith keep our family together with “love” glue that won’t ever be unraveled. She is an amazing woman who’s taught me what it is to be my own woman.
I love her more than words can say.
Her beautiful spirit shines through in everything she does. And I only wish I could give her back even a little of what she’s given me. I try everyday to be a person she’d be proud of.
This is her high school picture:
And this is her with Dad a few years ago:
(( (Ok…more like 20 years ago…but who’s counting anyway???)))
She’s a beauty, huh?
Well, she’s even more beautiful inside!!
Thanks for all you do and have done for me MOM… I love you!!!! ❤
Have you hugged your MOM today?
Or any woman that you can say you are who you are because of them?
