This year, the celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi festival, also known as Ganeshotsav, starts on Monday, September 2, 2019. It’s the day when Ganpati idols will make their way to homes, and devotees would prepare platter full of modak (a special sweet made on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi) and other sweets to offer their beloved lord.

The Ganeshotsav concludes after 10 days on Anant Chaturdashi which is also known as Ganesh Visarjan. On the tenth day after start, the idol is carried in a public procession with music and group chanting, then immersed in a nearby body of water such as a river or sea.
