Hands-Free Shoes: Shoes You Can Put On Without Touching Them

By Bridgetteraes @BridgetteRaes

When I received an email from LifeStride about the importance of hands-free shoes during the Coronavirus pandemic, my first instinct was to roll my eyes. “What’s next?” I wondered, “Bubble Boy suits?” It has to be the extreme cynicism that has bubbled up in me after nearly eight weeks of being in lockdown.

Then I read the explanation as to why hands-free shoes are a wise choice. These types of shoes have quickly become essential for helping put a stop to cross-contamination since we have learned bacteria and viruses live on surfaces for up to 72 hours. Well, thank God we’re entering summer where most of the shoes we wear are easy on and off. Sorry, Australia.

Hands-Free Shoes: Shoes You Can Put On without Touching Them

No matter where you live on the spectrum of how the world has handled social distancing and keeping everyone safe, the less time we spend touching things the better, and who wants to touch grimy shoes all the time anyway? Have you ever tied your shoelace after accidentally walking through a puddle? Gross.

I have put together five different looks using comfortable and casual hands-free shoes so you too can touch what you put on your feet as little as possible this season.

Outfit #1

I styled these cheeky Soludos espadrille flats with a striped jumpsuit from Caslon, pink drop earrings, and a pink salt colored handbag from Sole Society.

Outfit #2

I styled these fun and comfortable yellow slip-on from Gentle Souls with a pair of tie-waist cotton pants from Cos, a boxy cropped tee from Madewell, an orange statement pendant, and khaki-colored large leather tote.

Outfit #3

It will be easy to just slip on and go with these mule wedge sneakers from Caslon that I styled with a watermelon pink dress from Everlane, a printed scarf from Nordstrom and a small crossbody from ChloĂŤ.

Outfit #4

Thongs and flip flops are hands-free shoes at their finest. I styled these navy Jack Rogers thongs with a pair of printed pants from Apiece Apart, a navy and white striped Breton from Boden, and a rose-colored bag from Rebecca Minkoff.

Outfit #5

Finally, these adorable slip-on sneaker style shoes from LifeStride, the brand that inspired this post in the first place. I styled these shoes with a pair of Citizens of Humanity jeans, a striped oversized poplin shirt from Topshop, Kendra Scott drops, and a flaming orange bag from Kate Spade.

Of course, wearing hands-free shoes will only take you so far. Keep your safe 6ft distance from others, wear a mask in public places and wash those hands!
