H&M; Through The Years

By Fashionvisuals @fashion_visuals

With the latest news that Isabel Marant will be the next high end designer to collaborate with the store, we thought we would delve into H&M’s history within the fashion industry.

Established in 1947, H&M opened their very first store in Sweden which was named Hennes and sold a range a womens clothing. Since then, the company has gone on to open up many more stores across the globe, with their first UK store opened in London in 1976 and their first US store located on Fifth Avenue in New York in 2000. Today, H&M has around 2800 stores and produces fashion for women, men and children and also creates home-ware and cosmetics.

H&M is part of the Hennes & Mauritz group which also comprises of other well known brands such as Monki, Weekday, Cheap Monday and COS.

As well as Isabel Marant, the store has collaborated with other top designers in the past. These include Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Viktor & Rolf, Roberto Cavalli, Comme Des Garcons, Jimmy Choo, Lanvin, Versace and Marni. All collaborations have been a hit, particularly the Versace collection where shoppers were seen queuing round the block to get a piece of high end style at a high street price.

Even celebrities have joined forces with the store and put their name on H&M collections. Famous faces including David Beckham, Madonna, Lana Del Rey and Beyonce have all worked with this well known fashion store.
