Michael Lombardo, HBO Programming President, officially announced that HBO has renewed its big budget fantasy series for another 2 more years.
Lombardo also added that, sunday night’s 4th season premiere pulled the highest ratings in HBO history since “The Sopranos” finale in 2007.
9 pm broadcast along with 11 pm repeat; Except for HBOGo Streaming and on-demand figures, a total of 8.2 million people tuned in for GoT 401.
The Official notice wasn’t a major surprise as Weiss and Benioff both signed on some weeks ago for the 5th and 6th seasons.
Casting and production is slated to begin in summer 2014 and will incorporate facts and elements from both 4th and 5th books of George R.R. Martin’s “Song of Ice and Fire Series”.
