Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow

By Twynkleloves @TwynkleLoves

Happy Thursday Lovelies. I'm sure from the title and first picture, you can already tell the direction of this post, Yes I did a big chop! Call it an early mid-life crisis, if you will, but I simply felt like chopping my hair off, forsaking all my belongings and moving to a new country and whilst I've only done 1/3, I'm very much on a different path right about now. My hair was always my crowning glory and a treasure to maintain so trust me when I say there was really no issue behind it except I really just wanted a change.
Although my hair has mostly been relaxed throughout the years, I definitely had no intentions of embarking on a natural hair journey when I took the plunge, although I guess I've now inadvertently started on one anyway.
When I was younger, I was a lot more adventurous with my hair, dying it up to ten times a year from blonde to red but after I left university, I became much more conservative with it. My hair is naturally a color 1/1b but I also used to dye it jet black which I thought gave it a deep rich shine and I've always maintained long healthy hair with regular treatments, conditioners and trims with the odd weave or two in between.
The longest I let my hair reach was 20" but then in March 2015, I decided to try out the bob life. Although after that, I vowed never to cut my hair again, I started to really love it but before the end of the year, it had grown out. Fast forward a year later, coincidentally, and I've done a major chop.
There was honestly no thought behind it, no style ideas, no image concerns, I just sat in my bathroom one evening and cut away, it was honestly so liberating because I did it out of choice not necessity. I've saved the hair, all 16 inches of it, as you can see in the images and I'm not sure what I'll do with it yet, although there might be a market for 2-3 bundles of 16" Nigerian hair, lol.
Strangely though, it's been over a week since the cut and it's already growing out so I'm not sure if I'll keep it short and cut it again or let it grow out but as I don't really care right now, I'll decide when it comes to it.
And now, just because I can, I'm paying homage to my hair that served me so well all these years.  I know this post doesn't show enough of my cut in pictures but it was more about the story and there'll be plenty style posts to come for the angles so stay tuned. Enjoy! TL. Xx
